Our winemaking methods are largely traditional with emphasis on minimal handling to retain the integrity and concentration of fruit. Food and wine matching is a particular focus – the wine style is designed to provide elegant wines to accompany food.
Attention to detail and a hands-on approach are key to our winemaking philosophy – from hand picking the grapes to hand bottling the wine.
Every bottle is individually labelled on our handmade kauri labelling machine.
Whilst stocks are small, de la terre winery offers an extensive range of interesting wines, both red and white:- Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Chardonnay, Bordeaux-style reds and Syrah. We have recently included a new red variety, Tannat, which has a growing reputation for its cardiovascular benefits as well as a unique flavour profile and intense colour. All our grapes are hand-picked from single vineyards.
Our wines are available only from our cellar door and website as well as selected restaurants in Hawke’s Bay.
Please note, customers must be over the age of 18 to purchase wine in New Zealand.
