Our first vintage of this Spanish variety and we’re very pleased with the results.
We didn’t try to prejudge the wine style. The aim here was to use winemaking techniques that focussed on the fruit purity so we could get a read on the terroir.
The wine has a delightful, fresh crimson hue. It displays vibrant, strong varietal characters of Tempranillo. The tannins are not polished or sophisticated – displaying a slight “5 o’clock shadow”. There is a fresh seam of acidity that sits above the tannins and enhances the fruit. Oak is present, but subdued – the fruit is the hero.
This wine is very ‘more-ish’ – take a sip, enjoy the flavours and you know it, you are back for another taste.
This wine is built for early to mid-range drinking – expect the wine to last for 5 – 7 years.
